As Country Manager, Cindy plays a broad role within Northwave. She is responsible for strengthening the company's presence in Belgium.
"The key priority is for future clients get to know us, find us and decide to partner with us," says Cindy.
Her work encompasses all the tasks of a true entrepreneur: relationship management, marketing, sales, thought leadership, and connecting clients with experts. Cindy focused on building personal relationships and attended various events where she spoke about a structured approach to cybersecurity. Her engagement led to an interview on platforms such as KanaalZ, where she emphasized the importance of proper preparation for digital threats.
In the Netherlands and Germany, Northwave has already built a strong reputation, but Belgium was still relatively untapped.
The Belgian market also stands out due to specific characteristics. Cindy notes that “Zaken vooral worden gedaan op basis van vertrouwen. Hierdoor kan het soms langer duren voordat zakelijke beslissingen worden genomen tegenover in Nederland”.
"Northwave helps companies with cybersecurity through Business, Bytes, and Behaviour. We manage risks, monitor systems, and teach safe behavior. Additionally, our CERT is ready to assist companies when they become victims of a cyber attack. The better a company prepares itself, the less significant the impact of an incident will be."
The interview made it clear that ransomware, supply chain attacks, and business email compromise are the biggest threats to companies. These threats are influenced by geopolitical developments, cybercrime-as-a-service, AI, and quantum computing.
"Cyber knows no boundaries, and it is crucial to collaborate both nationally and internationally."
However, according to her, there is a positive shift within companies, which are increasingly recognizing the need to take action. This is mainly due to the growing internationalization, the consequences of incidents, and the new NIS2 regulations that require companies to be better prepared for digital threats.
Her technical background has provided a strong foundation for her current role, as it wasn’t always easy for a woman to be active in the tech sector. Cindy gained extensive knowledge of cyber threats, from deep technical insights to strategic approaches. This experience now helps her build trust and strengthen relationships in her current position.
After a successful year, Cindy plays a key role in Northwave's expansion in Belgium. With her diverse experience and goal-oriented approach, she helps the company grow and supports organizations in their fight against digital threats. Her dedication and vision make her a valuable asset in the ever-evolving world of cybersecurity.
